Due to my continued commitment as
manager of the garden booth at the SHAID annual yard sale,
held annually on the last weekend of May,
time is very scarce for shipping daylily orders in May.
Most plants are a better size by the end of May and shipping in June can be
done without interruption.
If time permits, and your order does not contain any plants that have not grown
out of the winter 'blahs', you might receive your order in May. No
promises.
If you prefer to have your plants shipped on a
specific date, i.e. will be away on vacation or for work, etc.,
please let me know in advance when you will be not be home.
Sometimes, I get a free few days and am able to prepare a few orders that can be dug
earlier than June.
I will advise all customers when your plants are in the mail with a tracking number.
PLANT PREPARATION FOR SHIPPING
Plants are dug, washed, dried and trimmed of excess leaves and
roots before packing.
Plants with an equal balance of foliage and roots
re-establish quickly,
growing new roots and foliage as it acclimatizes to its new location.
Please ensure you remember to keep your new plantings
of daylilies well watered for the first year.

SHIPPING COSTS INFORMATION
Daylily orders will be shipped via Canada Post Expedited Parcel.
Plants shipped within the Maritimes usually arrive within 3 working days using
Expedited,
sometimes the very next day.
Most Expedited parcels sent to major centers
in Ontario and Quebec
could arrive within working 4 days but are not guaranteed 4 day delivery.
Rural areas in Ontario and Quebec, AND all
areas west of Ontario take 5 + days to arrive
at their destination with Expedited Mail.
If you prefer to have your order mailed via Express Post, most areas of
Canada, with the exception
of British Columbia can receive their parcels within 4 working days of Canada
Post.
It is impossible to determine this prior to mailing.
(If you know of a way to do this in advance, I would love to know)
If you want your parcels shipped Express Post, please advise me of this at the time of your order.
I will explain how the Express postage and shipping can be arranged.
*****************************************************************************
Orders may be picked up in person to save on shipping.
Advance notice is necessary to have your order ready for pickup.
This method is popular for those within driving distance
as there are many excellent nurseries in the area to visit for companion plants.

Stout Silver Medal - The highest award a cultivar can receive
is the Stout Silver Medal, given in memory of Dr. Arlow Burdette Stout,
who is considered to be the father of modern daylily breeding in North
America. Award of Merit (AM) - Established in 1950, this award is given to signify that a cultivar is not only distinctive and beautiful, but also performs well over a wide geographic area. The award is made each year to the twelve cultivars receiving the most votes by the garden judges under the following formula: A cultivar must receive votes from at least half of the AHS regions, and not more than one-third of the total votes credited to a cultivar shall come from any one region. Honorable Mention (HM) - Established in 1950, this award is the first official "stamp of approval" by the AHS, where good performance goes beyond the regional level. To win, a cultivar must receive a minimum of fifteen votes (starting in 2010, twenty votes will be required to achieve the HM). These votes must come from no fewer than four different AHS regions. In voting for this award, Garden Judges must cast their votes only for cultivars observed in their own region. Lenington All-American Award Winner is given annually since 1970 to the daylily voted the best performer over a wide geographic area.
