Nova Scotia Daylilies

A DAYLILY STORY

After 10 years of obsessive compulsive daylily collecting I am now over the 2,500 mark.  Considering that I started out with 30-50 new daylilies a year,
if you think about the math, there were years that between 200-300 landed here.
Totally obsessed and addicted!
This summer I started to think I might have ENOUGH daylilies now!
I have also come to the conclusion that I am married to a very clever man.
Not one word of complaint or criticism as the boxes of daylilies arrived in the mail or the suitcases were drug home from the U.S. of A.
Wayne very patiently prepared more beds so I could plant my precious acquisitions.
He KNEW the day would come when I realized I was in over my head.
Due to the amount of space my seedlings are taking up (more & more of this each year too), I will need to reduce the sheer volume of plants.
So there are a LOT of plants listed for sale this year and there will be even more next year.
I don't know how successful I will be in reducing the actual numbers of cultivars I grow,
but I seriously need to reduce the amount of each one I have.

2011 Seedling Dilemma

This is the daylily bed which was cleared out to make room
to plant seedlings in July, 2011

This is the same daylily bed after planting seedlings July, 2011

These are the seedlings left to plant, once the available space was filled.
They will spend the winter in their pots until next year.

Below are photos of our 'garden lot' where the majority of the daylilies are grown.
The garden lot is also home to Wayne's pride & joy,
THE VEGETABLE GARDEN
